General Hair care tips

The Wash day series was quite a mouthful, so I wanted to provide more direct and general hair care tips.

Do not detangle your hair when it is dry! I know I mentioned this already but it is really important.

Cover your hair with a silk or satin bonnet or scarf when you sleep. This will prevent tangles, breakage and drying out your hair. You can alternatively use a silk or satin pillow case.

Try to do majority of your detangling with your fingers and use the right detangling tool for your hair.

Enjoy your shrinkage. I know, I know, we all want to show off our length but shrinkage just shows that your hair is healthy and happy, so learn to embrace your shrinkage.

Limit your use of heat. Guys heat damage is real and it is not cute at all, so if you want to keep your curls or coils healthy and popping, limit your use of heat. When you do use heat, use a good heat protectant.

Don't do high puffs everyday. A high puff looks really good, I like doing high puffs too, but doing a high puff too often puts tension on your edges.

If you want to do a twist or braid out, wait for your hair to dry before you unbraid or untwist it so you can get that definition you want.

You really don't have to comb your hair everyday for it to look good, try spraying some water on in and using your fingers to form it to how you want it to look and walk out that door sister.

Pick your hair stylist carefully, You can literally be doing everything right for your hair but then not see good results because of a stylist that pulls you hair tooo tight. Bottom line: if you have to sleep awkwardly at night after getting your hair braided, then sis you need a new stylist.
